Sodium
A mineral that is vital for a large number of functions within the
body. When sodium is in solution in the body it forms ions
(Na+) and an average man has approximately 47 mmol Na+ per kg.
Sweat
A liquid secreted by the sweat glands of the skin. Sweat is mainly
water but also contains electrolytes, such as sodium
and potassium. The secretion of sweat onto the skin and its subsequent
evaporation is the bodys principle mechanism for controlling
body temperature.
Threonine
An essential amino acid.
Trypsin
A digestive enzyme secreted
from the pancreas in to the intestine. Trypsin breaks down large
protein molecules into its
constituent molecules amino acids.
Tryptophan
An essential amino acid.
Urination
The process of expelling urine. Urine is produced by the kidneys
and contains excess water and waste products. The process of urination
regulates many physiological processes; including blood volume and
pH, concentration of electrolytes and blood pressure.
