Steve Cram, Chair of the Sportnation Panel
Chairman of the English Institute of Sport, Steve was the first man to run
under three minutes and 30 seconds for the 1500 metres. He set world records in
the 1500 metres, 2000 metres and the mile, within 19 days in the summer of
1985. Steve combines his role as chairman of the EIS with work as a broadcaster
with the BBC.
Tim Lamb, Vice Chair of the Sportnation Panel
Tim is Chief Executive of the CCPR (Central Council for Physical Recreation),
an independent umbrella organisation for national governing and representative
bodies of sport in the UK. Prior to this Tim was Chief Executive of the England
and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) for eight years between 1997 and 2004.
Charlie Beauchamp
Charlie is founder of Access
Sport, a charity which aims to increase youth participation at community sports
clubs and in doing so tackle the issue of childhood obesity. Charlie has over
14 years experience in managing sponsorship programmes for sponsors of UEFA
Champions League, FA Premier League, British Athletics & the British Lions.
Richard Caborn MP
Richard has been Labour MP for Sheffield Central since 1983. Until June 2007
Richard was the longest serving Sports Minister within the Department for
Culture, Media and Sport. Richard has been appointed as Gordon Brown’s
ambassador for a possible 2018 World Cup bid.
Chad Lion-Cachet
Chad is Chief Executive of Sportsworld, one of the world's leading providers of
hospitality and travel based events. Sportsworld specialises in both arranging
hospitality at established sporting events and creating more 'bespoke' events
for its clients.
Jon Callard
Jon Callard was appointed Kicking Coach for the senior England Rugby team at
the 2007 Rugby World Cup, where the team made the finals. Jon is also a coach
at the Rugby Football Union’s National Academy. Jon formerly played rugby union
at full back for both Bath and England.
Myles Downey
Myles is Director of Studies at The School of Coaching in the UK, which he
established in 1997 in association with The Work Foundation with the aim of
developing coaches who can transform the performance of individuals and teams
within organisations. Myles is author of Effective Coaching published in June
1999.
Patrick Duffy
Patrick is CEO of Sportscoach UK, the leading organisation dedicated to the
development and implementation of coaches and coaching throughout the UK.
Patrick has also been Director of the National Coaching and Training Centre
(NCTC), since 1994. Prior to this, Patrick was a Lecturer at Thomond College of
Education, Limerick and a teacher of physical education at St Declan’s College,
Cabra, Dublin.
John Hicks
John is Head of coaching at the Professional Footballers Association (PFA), the
world’s longest established sportsmen’s union. The PFA’s coaching department
prepares its members for a secondary career within football, possibly within
coaching or management.
Pinda Jagdev
Director of PE/Sports at Langdon School, a Sports College in East London since
1998, Pinda has led the formulation of successful bids for Sports College
status, School Sports Co-ordinators and Training School. Pinda participated in
the Education and Young People’s committee of the Lawn Tennis Association, the
Board of Legacy Olympic Committee, and was the Youth Leader for the Young
Ambassadors group who went to Singapore to support the successful 2012 Bid.
Dr Rod Jacques
Rod is Director of Medical Services at the English Institute of Sport and has
been a Sports Physician for the last 16 years. Rod attended the 1996, 2000 and
2004 Olympic Games with Team Great Britain and has been Medical officer to the
British Triathlon team since 1990.
Fiona Neale
Fiona was Silver medalist in the 100-metre backstroke at the 2000 Sydney
Paralympic Games. Fiona now acts as an advocate for disabled people to get more
involved at all levels of sport. Fiona’s role involves close liaison with the
English Federation of Disability Sport, Youth Sport Trust as well as working
with disabled children and teachers on inclusion strategies in PE.
Stephen Neilson
Stephen is Chairman of both the British Handball Association (BHA) and the
Scottish Handball Association and represents the sport on the National Olympic
Committee. He has been involved with handball for 25 years, the last two year
focusing on developing a fully established programme for the 2012 Olympic
Games, which will be based between Sheffield and Denmark.
Hope Powell
Hope was appointed the first ever full-time National Coach of the women’s
England senior football team in June1998, and took the England team to the
Women’s World Cup quarter finals in China this summer. Hope is a fully
qualified ‘A’ License coach and in 2003 became the first woman to achieve the
UEFA Pro License - the highest coaching award available.
Micky Stewart
Micky is a former England cricketer and played first class cricket for Surrey
County Cricket Club and eight Test matches for England national cricket team.
Micky subsequently served as cricket manager of Surrey (1979 – 1986), England
(1986 – 1992) and was Director of Coaching for the England and Wales Cricket
Boards (1992 – 1997).
